Industry Recognises IT Firms Talent

Indigo Technologies added to its ever-growing collection of accolades after its sales manager, Aileen Scott, was crowned this year’s Rising Star at the 2012 Northern Star Business Awards.

Organised by the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, the prominent event recognises excellence and entrepreneurship. More than 800 local business leaders gathered at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday, 11 October, for the ninth annual awards ceremony.

The win follows the recent naming of Indigo as a finalist in the Government Opportunities (GO) Best Service Award Scotland 2012/13, where it faces tough competition vying against Capital Document Solutions, and Serco. The winners will be announced at a black tie event on 23 October at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.

Commenting on her win, 28 year old Aileen said: “It‘s an absolute honour to receive this title and I’m extremely grateful to all the staff at Indigo who continue to support and believe in me. Indigo has allowed me to develop my abilities by investing heavily in IT and sales training, resulting in me building an in-depth knowledge in IT as well as gaining great technical ability.

“They have also given me the freedom to be heavily involved in a number of networking groups. This includes setting up my own group called Fresh Networks, which is dedicated to mentoring and inspiring young business professionals.”

The Rising Star award is given to an employee who has shown outstanding potential and is proven to have made a major impact and contribution within the company. This was the second consecutive year that Aileen found herself in the shortlist for this title.

Sean Thomson, Director of Indigo stated: “We are all extremely proud of Aileen and she undoubtedly deserved to win. With a true passion to achieve the best for herself, Indigo and others, she doesn’t stop when she has achieved her goals; she sets herself even bigger and better ones.

"During the four years that she has worked at Indigo, Aileen has been a very loyal employee, dedicated to making Indigo one of the leading IT service providers in the north east of Scotland. She has made significant contributions to the company so far, and she has by no means finished. We are incredibly pleased that her talent has been acknowledged throughout the wider business community.”

This marks the fifth year that the Aberdeen-based IT service company has reached the shortlist for the finals of this annual event. In 2009 Indigo was awarded a Highly Commended for Best Use of ICT and in 2010 it won the highly deserved title of Excellence in Customer Service.
