Superfast fibre broadband has become something of a hot topic in the North East in recent times, resulting in homes and businesses being able to access fibre broadband services at speeds of up to 80Mbps, over three times quicker than the traditional methods of running through copper. Furthermore, this service allows multiple users within a property to access the network at the same time and provides both homes and businesses a much better quality of service.
The BT service has seen engineers digging up local roads and laying miles and miles of fibre cables in the North East communities in recent months, whilst also installing a large number of new FTTC street cabinets to house connections as part of the £410million Digital Scotland roll-out.
Taking the initiative with this new service in Aberdeen, is leading North East technology specialists Indigo Technologies, who this month have provided their engineers with in house training to be able to offer their clients this new service. This has resulted in the IT firm being commissioned for five superfast fibre broadband installations and two installations of the more expensive EOFTTC services in the past month with more installations being planned in the near future. (Add Energy, Strachan Partnership, Drum Property, SBP Accountants ) Indigo’s customers can now benefit from superfast download speeds and have the ability to share content faster than before, giving them the opportunity to enhance their services from a business prospective.
Council leader Barney Crockett commented, “We remain committed to providing world-class high-speed broadband in Aberdeen and continue to work with broadband providers to secure improved broadband infrastructure for the North-East. This increase in fibre broadband installations is really great news for Aberdeen residents and businesses, which I am sure will be warmly welcomed.”
